Traders Breathe Easier As Markets Closed Slightly Up |

Markets closed slightly up as traders breathed easier with Resources sector rebounding from significant falls across the boards yesterday. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,463.95 almost unch with an improvement of 0.11% or 2.61 points and the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,360.84 up 1.21% or 111.76 points. Combined turnover decreased to RMB 176.35 bln, down from 271.18 bln the previous trading day. Despite gains on Wall St, mainland markets tumbled across the boards from the opening session with Resources and Logistics sectors shedding gains of the previous week. Surprisingly the Finance sector held its ground slipping less than the benchmark index. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,461.35 down 2.94% or 74.48 points and the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,249.08 down 4.06% or 391.82 points.
